Well, it might be true that she vets the dogs. At least some of the dogs. But then there are others that she doesn't vet. True, right Beady? I mean, we know that you adopted out Tiny and Pepe and one of them had to have surgery the next day. We've heard of many adopters in this sort of situation...adopting dogs from CNWB only to end up having a sick dog and big vet bills on their hands.
Damn those pesky vet bills....they really do get in the way of a rescue making good money. I mean, imagine the cash that could be saved if you could just snap your fingers and *POOF*, have vet bills written up without the hassle of visiting the vet! Wouldn't that be a dream? Of course, the dogs wouldn't have recieved proper care, but at least money would be saved!
Now, what do we have here? These are vet records for 2 different dogs, both adopted out by Beady Singer at Cold Noses Warm Beds. Let's have a run down, shall we? First off, we have a Dr. Jenkin who filled out a form from Kelowna Vet Hospital. Dr Jenkin vaccinated Sally on March 16th/09.
Then we have another vet, across town at Okanagan Vet Hospital who vaccinated Molly on March 16th. What's really amazing is that this vet also has the name Dr Jenkin!!! What a weird coincidence! Two vets, in the same town, with the same name. Vaccinating dogs for the same owner on the same day?
I thought that this was so neat, I called Kelowna Vet Hospital. Guess what? There is no Dr Jenkin that works there! I also checked the website for Okanagan Vet Hospital, and Dr Jenkin doesn't work there, either!
Weird, too, how the handwriting is the same and person who filled it out seemed to forget the address of Kelowna Vet Hospital and just wrote in the address on Sexsmith Road of Okanagan Vet Hopspital.
But WHO IS THAT VET? The mystery vet who does not exist! Dr Jenkin, who are you?
What's really funny, and I point this out for your own amusement only, I certainly wouldn't be implying that Beady Singer herself forged vet documents or anything, but check out how similar, how almost exactly the same Beady's handwriting is to the mystery vet Dr Jenkin!
Weird, hey? I mean, again, I certainly wouldn't accuse Beady of forging vet documents...because she really loves these dogs and doesn't profit off of them. But if I were you, and I adopted from CNWB, I'd be going over my vet records, just for kicks!!!
I wonder how the vet clinics will feel when I email them this link in the morning......
WOW! Great work! I am so happy to see this investigation is still ongoing! The only people turning a blind eye to this now will be the people profiting with Beady!

I use Willowbrook Animal Hospital,and I assure you,I am NOT a puppy broker. I breed and show dogs,and am a member of the Canadian Kennel Club. Dr. Bath is a very good,dedicated,and conscientious vet. Please don't imply that he has anything to do with Beady Singer's illicit affairs. He is a vet,and thus,does necessary veterinary work for whoever his clients may be.

Can this CNWB story get any more sordid and scandalous than it already is? Isn't it against the law to forge documents? If this turns out to be the case and I was the vet hospital named, then I'd be going after Beady to clear my name. The SPCA should be informed, too. For shame!

ReplyDeleteI would think that if the two vets' hospitals were contacted and there is no Dr. Jenkin, then the signature is forged. I agree that the BC Veterinary Medical Association should be informed. The very possible scenario of dogs not receiving proper vaccinations before being sold is more than likely if the forms are forged. I think anyone who has adopted a dog from Beady Singer should go over whatever paper work they have with a fine toothed comb!

ReplyDeleteI am Dr. Veenis and own Okanagan Veterinary Hospital in Kelowna BC. There is no Dr. Jenkins employed at my hospital and there never has been. Also, the vaccination records posted here are different than the ones we use. These documents are a fraud.

ReplyDeleteIt is unfortunate that a broker like this can operate under the guise of "rescue". It makes us authentic animal rescuers look bad. It is just unethical what she is doing and she is not only jeopardizing the safety of animals, she is potentially putting unvaccinated dogs out into the world to be exposed to fatal diseases.
So sad . . . makes me so sad. And who will speak for these animals? If not those who are bringing these types of documents to light.
The original scandal re Beady Singer dissipated very quickly, which was very disappointing although not surprising in the fickle rescue community which lurches from one crisis to the next.

It has already been passed onto the SPCA and will be addressed with Agriculture Canada as well.
ReplyDeleteShe is not only denying these animals the right to medical attention, but she is putting a lot of animals at risk by possibly contaminating healthy animals in the event that animals that may be carrying infectious undetected diseases and are adopted into families with existing pets. Alot of multiple pet families adopt from rescue groups...so sad for them if they got duped by Beady Singer.
This woman is capable of just about ANYTHING!!
I hope this is the key that puts Beady behind bars, nothing would make me happier .

WHAT IF , this dog was indeed sick, was taken to another vet and it's medical issues were detected and the attending vet said it was something that you should have easily detected...how does that make your establishment look?
WHAT IF.. the owner of the dog bad mouthed your establishment , indicating that it is something that could have been detected . This could do your practise ALOT of dammage.
To all you "NON BELIEVERS" out there - especially the Beady supporters in the US...are you starting to "see" what kind of desperation that Beady goes to just to make few bucks? Gosh if she could turn her efforts into a legit business - she could maybe do very well.But tell me...IS THIS RESCUE????I hope the person who has these 2 dogs can be tracked down...and as Dr Veenis is requesting- obtain the medical cert's .

ReplyDeleteI think the rescue community should be cheering the fact that Dr. Veenis has stepped forward. Those of us with rescue dogs, who obtained the proper documentation, who have vets we trust and have healthy dogs because of it, recognize the potential danger of what Beady Singer is doing by adopting dogs with forged papers. The paper trail leads back to her. I hope she has banked the thousands of dollars she made by brokering dogs, because lawyer fees don't come cheap. The bottom line is that if these documents prove to be fake, then she has clearly broken the law.
ReplyDeleteI adopted a dog through Beady last year. I have vet certificates (immunization records) from the shelter in CA that our dog was rescued from. Whoever filled out and signed these form is obviously not Beady because the handwriting is totally different. Do you think I need to call down to the vet in CA to confirm the vaccinations? Also, when I adopted our dog, she was sick with a chest infection and supposed to have been given antibiotics. I called Dr. Bath's office to get info on the medical treatment to pass on to my vet. They refused to give me the info as their client was Beady. Beady gave me the info over the telephone, but now I wonder. Turns out my dog probably didn't receive the full course of antibiotics from the vet in CA, and after x-rays, a fungal panel, blood work etc. we got her healthy (after several hundreds of dollars later). Do I have the right to get these medical records from Dr. Bath's clinic, or do they have the right to withhold the info from me? I just want to insure that my dog did get vaccinated and to confirm the info Beady gave me - who knows if she told me the truth! I'm totally disgusted with her and feel like a fool for being duped!

When any of us make the choice to adopt a rescue pet, it's usually a leap of faith (with the correct paperwork in place). I hope the people who feel duped by Beady Singer go easy on themselves. We are law abiding, trustworthy folk with huge hearts. The fact that Beady preyed on that, speaks of her personality and lack of moral fiber. Instead, look at your paperwork, contact the vets involved, let the SPCA know, contact the BC Veterinary Association and continue to speak out.

Fact is, anyone who adopts a dog from a rescue is doing it from the goodness within their hearts, and the better welfare for that one animal. Just because there are bad people out there that prey on people with good intention...don't let that stop you from seeking out the TRULY GREAT RESCUE GROUPS and the people who dedicate their existance for the good of the animals, and mostly...don't forget about all these wonderful animals who need good homes. It needs to be about the animals more than anything else.

Exactly how many dogs does Beady have NOW and where is she getting them from? I heard she trolls the craig's list pages looking for free dogs and then resells them...with forged medical certificates. What next? Watch your dogs folks , she may be trolling YOUR neighbourhood looking for dogs that she can quick flip!!!

ReplyDeleteYou know what else really scares me about these certificates? They are VAGUE. Basically, they could be paired with any older-female-small-fluffy-dog. Just throw in a date and a suitably ubiquitous name (like Sally or Molly) and you're good to go. They don't even give a COLOUR. (WTH does "mixed" mean?)

For anyone who may not have been in at the start of this courageous attempt to expose Beady Singer's operation, there are several youtube videos posted by Cold Dogs No Beds and InMemoryOfDelilah. If you need some background as to why people stepped forward in the first place, the videos will give you additional information that was gathered well before the fraudulent vet forms came to light. It's worth noting that Beady Singer claims to have found homes for over 400 dogs in less than a year. She has told outrageous lies, housed dogs in crates in a barn (lying in their waste on dirty hay, being sprayed with water if they misbehaved) and sold sick dogs to unsuspecting adoptees (one person has proof of $8,000 in vet bills that they incurred shortly after adoption). The primary goal is to see that Beady Singer never gets another dog. In my opinion, she should be charged with fraud, animal cruelty and brokering.

ReplyDeleteThe SPCA has some redicilious guidelines that they need to operate within-and they are guided by our antiquated animal laws that are in desperate need of change...but there are some other things she can be sited for ...believe me, they have been working a case against Beady for some time, they know her well ( and this is not for ANY GOOD reason)...and Beady knows how to manipulate within the parameters...there are always new things coming to light and it is probably just a matter of time before she slips up or it is discovered ...just like the forged health certs.In any event ...it has taken a lot of time, a lot of people and a lot of heartache and disappointment to get her into the corner that she has painted herself into. Nobody has a personal vendetta against Beady, hell most of us would be happy to never hear her ugly name again. We are all fighting her for the same cause...we want her to STOP and NEVER have anything to do with another dog. She has hurt not only a lot of innocent animals...she has devestaed a lot of families and people who trusted her by ( I won't even use the word adopted) purchased dogs from her, and now being decitful enough to falsify documentation. I cannot even imagine what else this woman is capable of. If she would only put her efforts to do good, she could probably make an impact. Her ruthlessness and greed are driving her down a slippery slope.

I think many of our laws concerning animals and animal welfare are antiquated, but it's reassuring that through this blog posting and other websites, people are sending a clear message that those who abuse and mistreat not only the dogs, but also the trusting adoptees under the guise of a rescue site, must be stopped. When it also involves a blantant disregard for the law by forging certificates and misrepresenting facts, then that person should and must be held accountable. If I were in Dr. Veenis' shoes, I'd be furious that the name of my reputable veterinary hospital was used in such an underhanded way. It must go against everything he stands for.
ReplyDeleteIt is important to expose and shut down the places found guilty of neglect, fraud ot cruelity to animals. This can,t be acheived without public support and awareness. Puppy mills are the big one to do all of that.USA has amended the rules to shut puuppy mills. Most of canadian pet stores are buying puppies from these shady breeders and selling for profit. Adults are kept in small cages and are breeding till death. THe public must decide not to buy from Pet shops or so called rescue people. They can get from serious breeders or SPCA or genuine rescue groups who really care for the well being of animals. Always verify your facts.Vets are not allowed by the BCVMA to withhold any records that is crucial for the health of your pet. Always call BCVMA if you have any question like this. Never take your pet to vet recommended by your breeder/ petshop. Get an independent advice from vet of your choice whom you can trust for knowledge, honesty and fairness.

For someone like Beady...she has more moxy than alot of them...so I think I would put her in the "BOTH" catagory... Really...who would be that fd to forge medical certificates and think that they are going to get away with it...obviously the 2 that were located are most likely 2 of MANY!!!Trust me I am sure more will surface.

As someone who has 'adopted' from Beady (I posted earlier), my concern is the scope of this mess. My family is lucky. We spent the money to get our dog healthy and it was something our wonderful vet could fix. We are spending the money to work on the behavior issues that came along with our dog. We're committed to our dog as part of our family. Our dog is lucky we have the resources and patience to do this. And we are lucky our dog is such a lovely gentle soul in spite of her horrible beginnings. But considering Beady didn't know much about us or our dog, this is a best case scenario. But how many dogs actually came through Beady's 'operation'? How many dogs have ended up in unsuitable homes? How many dogs were placed in families with children that have no business being near kids? What has happened to these poor dogs and unsuspecting people and families? How many dogs were euthanized unnecessarily? How many didn't receive the medical treatment they deserved? How many have forged vet documents and may not have been vaccinated? How many dogs were sold to people who had no right to own a dog and aren't providing the dog with the necessary care? The enormity of what she has done is frightening!

In answer to the question about the people in Los Angeles being aware of Beady's doings here. YES THEY ARE!!! I personally emailed after the video came out. I only wish I had remembered to keep the response email I received. Anyway they in NO WAY seemed concerned about this whole situation at all!! Maybe more people should email them and then post the responses on here. Or someone should maybe send them this blog like they did the Vets.
ReplyDeleteSome organizations in LA have distanced themselves from Beady Singer, one in particular whose logo she was using on her emails without their consent. Hopefully, the rescue watch group that's become involved will continue to send out their "red flags" about her to every animal shelter and rescue organization in Canada and the US.

ReplyDeleteIn the very beginning of the start of this rescue I myself had contacted Beady for info on how to start my own small rescue. I was asked to perhaps join her and be a "partner" of sorts. Around the same time Craigslist had postings of a local rescue stealing dogs. So, my bad innner fealing kicked in and I did not become involved in this or any other rescue. OMG am I ever happy I listened to my inner voice!! Please lets just shut her down somehow!!

Let's remember that there are many fine rescues all over the country, being run by people with integrity and compassion, who work tirelessly on behalf of the animals. More is coming to light. Some people have the wrong paperwork for dogs they adopted from Beady Singer. Dogs that were noted as being microchipped, were in fact NOT. The lies, the incomplete adoption forms and the forged vet papers appear to be just the tip of the iceberg. Please check your paperwork and contact your vet if you have any doubts or questions, especially concerning vaccinations.

I just watched the story of Floppy on the blip.tv video posted by Camp Cocker and it's truly heartwrenching. I can't believe there's one person standing who believes a single word that comes out of Beady Singer's mouth. The story of Floppy goes beyond just greed and lack of caring and compassion for dogs. It's deplorable behaviour on Beady Singer's part. There should be a law in place that would deny this woman of ever having contact with another animal. The case against her just keeps building. We have to ask ourselves what it means to be human. Don't be a bystander. Stand up to the bully on behalf of the bullied. Animals need our voices to ring out loud and clear.

ReplyDeleteHe wanted proof when I told him back in october what a crock of...s h i t her rescue was..this is not rescue as well all know..I have emailed him over and over, and eventhough the AAA has cut him off, that does not mean he is not supplying her with dogs..look at CL in LA..tons of dogs are available..so ..there is another avenue to continue this path...Beady Broker might also do her brokering under a new name or the name of one of her fosters..who knows how many she does have left..it is sick and pathetic..when she was asked to answer the important questions as to the Why's..she could only come up with her health scare..yes no one is wishing this to people..but crap..be honest for once in your life..and her kid? he is only 3..how much does he understand about being ethical? this poor kid was always with the mom to do the dirty work..and she is hiding behind her 3 year old..this woman should never have kids and or dogs..
I hope she gets charged and that her reputation will be non-existant..one day she will meet Dog and she better have her facts straight..Start to be honest Beady..makes me wonder what other lies you have been telling..I heard that her fiance also dumped her..but it can be a scam to protect his financial status? He too seems to be a scam artist..well they deserve eachother..

Ric Browde is an amazing human being who is responsible for saving hundreds of dogs lives. He spends all of his money and time networking dogs out of Baldwin Shelter. He,like many, believed that Beady was a wonderful person and that the dogs were safe going to her. HE would never jeopardize a dog, and is probably reeling like most of us from all the news surrounding Beady. So please watch who you burn at the stake..because Ric Browde is a true animal advocate and deserves the communities respect.

The phrase "burn at the stake" implies a witch hunt. Witch hunts were carried out by people who lived in fear and ignorance, against innocent women and men. The continuing attempt to expose Beady Singer's brokering business, the neglect and cruelty that dogs suffered while she lined her pockets with cash, is anything but a witch hunt. Beady Singer is not innocent...the facts piling up are proving otherwise. The people who came forward are courageous and were willing to step up to the plate on behalf of the animals who were crying out for help. One can only hope that Ric Browde is no longer supplying Beady Singer with dogs and has put as much distance between him and her as he possibly could. If he is truly reeling at the news, then his voice should join the chorus.

Well if we are flushing out Beady's LA counterparts and people who were involved with sending dogs to Beady and into harms way ...there is not only the upstanding advocate for animals Ric Browde...but also Nancy Stone.
ReplyDeleteI PERSONALLY saw evidence on the Alaska Airlines document back in January when this all started of 3 pitbulls being shipped to Beady Singer from Nancy Stone, and of course the 3 pitbulls.
One of those pitbulls was Toby,whom we know is safe, the other a little baby and the 3rd...no one really knows what became of the 3rd. Nancy...could you enlighten us please about what happened to this "3rd" pitbull????The 3rd one had some aggression issues...I am sure you know the 3 dogs I speak of. Also what became of that beautiful baby pitbull?? Do you know?If you do...please tell us.
I think the public who has been working so diligently to uncover Beady's guise of rescue deserve to know.
While I agree, being painted as guilty by association is not truly fair...then this is your opportunity (Nancy & Ric) to prove that you DO CARE about these dogs by stating your ignorance of Beady's activity AND that you did not bother to check her out thoroughly, AND that you are NO LONGER sending her dogs ,AND that you are NO LONGER supporting her financially , AND that you DO BELIEVE what has been exposed AND state your sever of ties with her.
Nothing less will make me personally believe that you both (were) and still are supporting her, and knew of her activity.
This is your chance to speak up Ric AND NANCY...otherwise, it is pretty apparant that you were fully aware and participated with her to exploit these 3 AND all the others you each sent her.
It has to be painfully obvious to everyone that Beady Singer was not hauling this wagon train alone. Let's face it, there were many people along for the ride and they enabled her to carry on regardless. Regardless of the health and welfare of the animals, regardless of proper documentation (and fraudulent papers), regardless of the emotional distress to adoptees who found themselves with ailing or sick dogs and regardless of the distress to the poor dogs who are the real victims in this mess. No one can move that many dogs through a rescue without red flags glaring. Dr. Bath, Ric Browde, Nancy Stone, Beady's finacee, people fostering dogs for her and most likely several others were all involved at some point and chose to be silent bystanders. Surely any vet worth a grain of salt would have stepped into the fray had he truly examined many of the dogs that Beady Singer claims to have vetted before adopting them out.

This makes YOU as responsible for what has happened , as it does Beady Singer. Beady probably did not mastermind this whole thing herself, I don't think she is that smart, she is just that dishonest, and saw an opportunity to line her pockets with cash the easy way. Dishonest and Money Hungry, yep that would be a good bio profile of Beady.
Beady go get a REAL job!!AS for those of you who say " I didn't know" and stood by when there was SO MUCH EVIDENCE put out there... or supported her in all the differnt ways that she was supported...vetting , fostering for her, sending her dogs...YOU ARE AS GUILTY AS SHE IS, and you deserve the same punishment that I hope is coming her way.
I think it's very telling that certain people ran for the hills when the evidence began piling up and the true nature of her "rescue" became public knowledge. Why aren't those early Beady Singer supporters speaking out now, if they believed everything was above board in their dealings with her? Turning a blind eye to what was going on, doesn't cut it. Ignoring the red flags doesn't cut it. Deflecting blame doesn't cut it. Keeping silent doesn't cut it. There's names pinned to Beady Singer's shirt tails and like burrs on a dog's fur, they won't be easily shaken off.
ReplyDeleteRic Browde knew long before the videos broke out that people were questioning Beady's practice. He would become defensive and angry if anyone brought it up to him and he claimed that she was doing nothing but good and sat on her Board of Directors.
ReplyDeleteIf he is such a stand up guy, he would have made sure that he wasn't been taken for a ride, he would have looked into where the dogs were going and how they were being adopted, rather than LYING OUTRIGHT saying ON CAMERA that all of those dogs were PREADOPTED TO LOVING HOMES with HOME CHECKS DONE.
He knows, like Beady, how to word things and manipulate to ensure that the public eats it up and DONATE, DONATE, DONATE!
Those dogs are nothing more than $ signs to the both of them...too bad for them people wised up!
Thank heavens I didn't adopt a dog from Beady Singer. With the rescue I chose, I filled out over six pages of an in-depth adoption application, had a thorough home and garden inspection done by a retired director of the SPCA, had vet and references checked and had numerous phone conversations. I know that my home is a great one, but I find comfort in knowing that other dogs passing through the same rescue that I did, are going to great homes, too. It can be done right. Let's not let a few tarnish the reputation of so many. One bad apple doesn't always spoil the bunch.
ReplyDeleteThe state of some of the dogs from Beady's barn is shocking. She claims to care, but what possesses someone to tell such bold-faced lies, to have a complete disregard for the animals' well-being and the law? What kind of example does this set for her children? How can she sleep at night?

She is the most self centered, egotistical, lying parasite that can be dug up.She has NO business being involved with RESCUE" and for her to pose and portray herself as someone who does good for animals is an outright lie. I am sure her children will see all this one day , and she will get what she deserves.
ReplyDeleteThere are SO MANY good rescue groups out there, and SO MANY good people that are willing to spend their time trying to do good for the animals. Animal rescue is NOT about making money...the contrary...it's a money pit...but money well spent in the eyes of those who truly care about animals, so for Beady to try to hoodwink the public into thinking that she has ever done anything that is anywhere near true animal rescue is just beyond redicilious.
Getting back to the SPCA and the dogs in the barn...why the f---are they not doing something to remove them?
Oh...and Ric Browde... huge parasite as well!
the paperwork says one dog is Sally the other is Molly. the dates also are spelled out at the vet and numbered on other form? The videos are the most conclusive
ReplyDeleteThe certificates are to show that she indeed did handwrite these herself...and is stupid enough to show the same vet working at 2 different vet locations on the same day...the woman is not only a liar , a thief and a fraud...she is BRAIN DEAD as well!!!

2) have the decency to remove "Twilight"...the little pit bull who has been DEAD since January off her adoptables list...it is deranged of her to still have him on the site...
Trust me...people are still watching her every move when it come to any dogs she may still have connection with. She would be wise to END her "rescue efforts" better known as "Beady Brokering" and find herself a job that is so far removed from animals.As long as she still has connection with animals , there are too many watch dogs that will continue to work to see her involvement with animals ended. I am certainly one of them!!

ReplyDeleteI can confirm Dr. Veenis' claims that those are not what his vacinnation certificates look like as I just had my dog's rabies vaccination at his clinic. Okanagan Vet Hospital is full of wonderful and caring people who put the welfare and care of animals first. Thanks Dr. Veenis for stepping forward, I wouldn't have expected anything less from you and your hosipital.
